Venture Capital

Funds, firms, and the people writing the checks.

Venture capital is a business before it is an asset class, and this desk covers it that way. We track the firms raising new funds and the LPs writing the commitments, the partners moving between shops or leaving to go solo, and the strategy shifts that show up in a portfolio long before they show up in a press release. Fund size is a thesis statement: a $250 million second fund and a $2 billion platform are playing different games, with different return maths and different pressure on the founders they back. We follow that maths — deployment pace, reserves, ownership targets, the growing role of continuation vehicles and secondaries — and what it means for anyone raising from these firms in the next twelve months.
